Our Mission

The GeoAI-Africa community is dedicated to uniting students, researchers, and practitioners focused on addressing Africa's unique geospatial and remote sensing challenges.

Recognizing the gap in communities specifically targeting climate and sustainability issues — a pressing concern for Africa and the broader Global South — we draw inspiration from successful AI communities like Deep Learning Indaba and the Masakhane community. Our vision is for GeoAI-Africa to spearhead innovative research and practices in geospatial machine learning tailored to African scenarios.

Crucially, our community is committed to forging collaborations with partners and stakeholders, ensuring swift, coordinated responses to African emergencies.

Remote Sensing

Leveraging satellite data and Earth observation for actionable insights across the continent.

Climate Action

Developing AI-driven solutions for climate monitoring, resilience, and adaptation strategies.

Food Security

Using GeoAI to enhance agricultural productivity, crop monitoring, and food distribution systems.

Disaster Response

Enabling rapid, coordinated emergency response through geospatial intelligence and predictive models.

Urban Development

Supporting sustainable urban planning with spatial analytics and data-driven decision making.

Public Health

Mapping disease patterns and health infrastructure to improve healthcare delivery across Africa.

Driving Real Impact

Our primary goal is to foster the implementation of GeoAI solutions across different sectors for the sustainable development of African nations.
